Dedicated to accelerating the UK's transition to a low-carbon future

Born out of a mission to bridge the gap between ambition and action in the UK’s clean energy sector, we support and de-risk early-stage low carbon projects, helping to make them both viable and scalable.

For over a decade, we've played a pivotal role in enabling communities and local authorities turn their clean energy visions into reality.

Uniquely occupying the space between the public and private sectors, we enable low carbon projects that would otherwise struggle to secure funding.

By using public funds to crowd in private investment, we multiply the impact of every pound, turning small-scale projects into commercially viable solutions that generate lasting value for communities and investors alike.

With over £100M of private investment secured so far and over 50 projects delivered, we are the trusted partner in accelerating the UK’s green transition.  Acting as a bridge between between communities, investors and policy makers, we’re proud to play our part contributing to the UK’s clean energy and economic growth missions.

Our Journey So Far

Formation

Originally established as part of the Yorkshire Forward Regional Development Agency, CO2Sense became a CIC in 2012.

Mission

With a mission to support low-carbon growth, we de-risk, finance, and scale renewable energy projects across the UK.

Today

We leverage our expertise, partnerships and track record of attracting finance to create impactful low carbon projects that deliver economic, environmental and community impact.

Our Partners

Our Approach

De-Risk Local Energy Projects

Acting as an early-stage funder and strategic partner we invest public funds to de-risk projects and secure private finance.

Community Benefit

We support community share offers and set up community funds so that residents benefit directly from local energy assets.

Prudent Use Of Public Funds

We are an investor, not a grant funder, which means that we can reuse our revenues to get more projects started.

Local Resillience

We provide advocacy to enable policy makers to understand what they need to do to create long-term energy independence for communities.
