Head of UK Feed-in Tariff to speak at CO2Sense event

Alasdair Grainger, Head of the UK Feed in Tariff policy, is confirmed as the key note speaker at the CO2Sense “Success in Renewables” Event, on 29th November 2012.

The event is principally sponsored by Addleshaw Goddard and is taking place on 29th November at the Queens Hotel in Leeds. By attending the event, developers of renewable projects can learn about the different channels of renewable energy investment and gain an understanding of which option will help them achieve their business objectives.

Alasdair will discuss the policy landscape and future of government incentives. These incentives are a corner stone for renewable energy developers – they are guaranteed for 20 years, and give index-linked payments for energy produced from installations. Making sure that a development is properly registered, and installed by certified companies, is essential. Alasdair will give an insight into the future of these incentives and how they have changed the viability of investing in renewable energy.

Alasdair is engineer and member of the UK Civil Service, serving in the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC). He joined the FITs team to work on the fast track review in early 2011. Previous roles include establishing a new Engineering Team within DECC, policy work for the Chief Scientist (Prof. David Mackay), negotiating the UK's position on technology within the UNFCCC and completing the first banding of the Renewables Obligation. He has also managed a Ministerial Office in the department for Business.

Alasdair has a deep interest and considerable experience in low carbon technology and development, both in the UK and abroad. This interest continues into his voluntary work which includes acting as a STEM Ambassador in London Schools.
