Stanley Renewable Energy repays early

April 1st, 2015 | 11:58 am

CO2Sense is pleased to confirm that our £450,000 investment in Stanley Renewable Energy has been repaid ahead of schedule.

Located on the west coast of England near Calderbridge, the 250kW on farm anaerobic digestion plant became operational in May 2014 and has now been running for 10 months. The project was developed in a partnership between JFS & Associates and the farm owner. JFS acted as the development partner bringing the technology supplier and financiers into the project whilst the farm owner provides the feedstock and will operate the plant long term.

The investment from CO2Sense was made in 2012, at a time when many funders where still uncertain about the technology. CO2Sense understood the risks involved and were keen to mobilise the project, investing £450,000 to contribute towards construction costs.

The investment was structured as a 5 year revenue share agreement with an option to repay early once the scheme was operational. This arrangement provided medium term construction finance to help the developer de-risk the scheme to the point of operation, after which our investment could be refinanced.

Jemma Benson, COO of CO2Sense noted:

“It has been a great pleasure to work with JFS enabling their first project to reach operation and be in a position to repay us 3 years early”

Stanley Renewable energy is one of many projects to utilise our finance in this way. Construction finance is one of our core products, designed to help project developers commission projects quickly and efficiently.
