Gerlan Hydro Progresses

September 5th, 2013 | 2:40 pm

In 2012 CO2Sense provided an investment of £300,000 to fund the construction of a 1MW high head hydro scheme in North Wales.  The scheme is nearing completion so the CO2Sense team took a trip out to see progress.

The scheme takes water from two rivers and pipes the water for over 1km underground to the turbine house where electricity is generated and exported to the National Grid. The scheme should be finished by early October 2013.  Once operating the CO2Sense investment will be paid back from income received from the Feed in Tariff.

The scheme is being developed by Derwent Hydro who CO2Sense have previously worked with on a project in Burley in Wharfedale.

If you are developing a hydro project we may be able to support you, visit our investment page to find out more about our offer.
