CO2Sense investment support: call for applications

April 23rd, 2015 | 9:26 am

CO2Sense are pleased to announce the launch of a new programme designed to help developers overcome the barriers to raising finance. The programme will offer tailored support, with no upfront cost, to enable projects to become a stronger investment opportunity.

Developing a renewable energy project requires numerous obstacles to be overcome, including securing planning consent, property rights, grid connection, feedstock supply whilst also negotiating the necessary contracts for construction, all required before construction finance can be secured.

CO2Sense has over 6 years experience working with renewable energy developers through investment and by developing their own schemes in partnership with Resolved Renewables. With this experience, the company is now offering to provide a bespoke package of support to ensure developers are able to secure the most suitable investment and progress within the challenging incentive window.

CO2Sense will provide up to £20,000 of support to help projects become an attractive proposition for funding and to reach financial close. Support will be provided by both CO2Sense and specialist external advisors. Technologies covered include wind, hydro, solar PV, Biomass CHP and anaerobic digestion projects between 200kW and 5MW.

Depending on the project, the support could include:

• A thorough review of the business plan and financial model, helping to firm up the strategy and business case
• Support to produce materials required by investors for an effective presentation
• Risk identification and mitigation through legal, financial and technical support
• Access to technical specialists
• Mentoring and coaching from the CO2Sense team

CO2Sense will provide these services at-risk with no up-front cost over a 3 month period, with support repaid when the project secures further investment.

CO2Sense is now inviting applications for a pilot of the programme. Applications are welcome from commercial developers and community organisations. To find out more or to submit an application, please contact Kulraj Heer on 0113 247 3848 or e-mail
