CO2Sense Invest in Monnow Valley CHP

December 16th, 2016 | 2:15 pm

CO2Sense are pleased to announce our latest investment into Monnow Valley CHP, a biomass fuelled heat and electric generation scheme located in Hereford. The investment was made through Abundance Investment, the innovative peer-to-peer lending platform, with CO2Sense acting as an anchor investor to help fund the construction.

The project provides a number of benefits for the local area. In addition to supplying the Sigeric Business Park with low carbon electricity to meet 100% of their needs, the scheme will also supply heat to a new wood fuel supply business. The project is based on a combination of 10 x Arbor Electrogen advanced gasification CHP units, and 2 x Froling Lambdamat 750kW biomass boilers. It has been developed by Biomass Partners, who have a strong history in the development of biomass projects and ESCo models in Monmouthshire and Herefordshire.

The investment into Monnow Valley CHP was raised through a 12-month debenture structured by Abundance and hosted on their platform, allowing both institutions and individuals to invest. In less than 10 days the debenture raised a total of £3.9 million which will be used to build out the scheme, targeted for completion by end Q1 2017. The debenture will be refinanced after 1 year through a longer term debenture also hosted on the Abundance platform.

Commenting on the investment from CO2Sense, Louise Wilson, Director of Abundance Investment said:

‘We are delighted to be able to work with CO2Sense on what is now our 3rd investment together. They are knowledgeable on their sector, quick to make decisions and are transparent. We would certainly recommend them to other organisations looking for a funding partner.’

The investment from CO2Sense represents a continued relationship with the peer-to-peer and crowd funding sector and demonstrates our flexibility towards deployment of capital.
