Biomass at Bivouac

December 20th, 2013 | 6:15 pm

Bivouac is an award winning holiday destination set in the Yorkshire Dales offering a wide choice of camping, glamping and accommodation options.

The concept of sustainability runs throughout the business and the biomass boiler which CO2Sense supported through a £25,000 investment, helps to underpin this ethos. Utilising local resources is a key consideration for Bivouac so the wood chip for the boiler is sourced from the nearby Swinton Estate.

On Wednesday the 4th of December, the CO2Sense team met with Andy Robinson from Bivouac and undertook our first tour of the project since the boiler became operational. We were pleased to see it working well and even more pleased to hear it was working above expectations. The boiler delivers heat to the cafe, shop, washing areas and bunk barn and has reduced the heating bill of the site significantly.

The £25,000 investment from CO2Sense, provided to contribute towards project costs, will be paid back from the RHI payments received from the installation over the next 3.5 years.
