CO2Sense invest and advise on community wind project

In 2011, CO2Sense invested £145,500 into a community wind scheme being developed by Origin Energy.

Once constructed, the project which is planned near Norton, Doncaster will consist of 2 wind turbines with a combined power output of 5MW. The scheme will be large enough to provide power for up to 3,000 homes whilst generating a surplus annual income of between £250,000 to £350,000, which will be reinvested into other community projects.

The £145,500 investment from CO2 Sense has contributed towards planning and development costs. Once consented and financial close is reached, the investment will be repaid.

As part of our offering to community projects, CO2Sense have committed to providing the project with ongoing technical support and help with the planning application and other development queries as they arise.

Returns from CO2Sense investments are reinvested to fund further renewable energy projects in the UK. Flexible finance is available to cover costs associated with project development, including for community owned projects.
