CO2Sense is a small organisation lead by Jemma Benson, Chief Operating Officer.
Jemma has over 10 years experience in the environmental and renewable energy sector. Jemma has been with CO2Sense since 2006 during which time she has progressed to become Chief Operating Officer. Jemma established the fund, leading it through a transition from a public sector grants programme to a revolving fund which is self sustaining from the profits made from each investment.
Jemma has responsibility for all CO2Sense investment activity including origination of new projects, investment negotiation and due diligence, contract and performance management, and business development.
Jemma also sits on the board of several companies which have received investment from CO2Sense.
Originally an Engineer, Kulraj entered the Renewables industry in 2011. The bulk of Kulraj’s experience lies in Project Development; having been involved in over 30 medium scale wind projects across the UK. Having joined CO2Sense in 2013, he is responsible for supporting the Fund Manager with due diligence, project origination, portfolio monitoring and general project management.
Kulraj is a Director of CO2Sense Pantycelyn Limited, a subsidiary of CO2Sense which owns and operates a medium scale wind turbine.

Geoff Sinclair - Chairman
Geoff has 20 years experience in climate and renewable energy finance. He is currently a co-founder of Additional Energy, a project finance platform focusing on sub-saharan Africa. Geoff also founded and was head of Standard Bank’s award-winning climate finance business, having completed transactions for over 50 projects totalling more than 2,000MW of installed capacity across a range of technologies including biomass, cogeneration, industrial and household energy efficiency, hydropower, solar PV and wind.
He has an MBA from London Business School and has also held roles as an executive director with a power exchange operator and as a senior analyst in regulatory policy at the New Zealand Treasury.
Isobel Mills - Non Executive Director
Isobel is the director of BIS Yorkshire Humber and North East, one of six small teams set up by Vince Cable, Secretary for Business, to ensure direct links are maintained with local areas and to provide information from on the ground. Prior to this Isobel was Deputy Director, People & Communities Directorate at Government Office Yorkshire and The Humber.
Stephen Booth - Non Executive Director
Stephen has been in the energy industry for over 30 years, and has worked on a wide variety of conventional and renewable power and energy projects including Gas Turbines, Reciprocating Engines, CHP, CCGT, Wind Turbines, Waste to Energy and Large Combustion Plant. His experience spans project management in power station construction, energy management posts with Shell and BP, and senior project development roles with both Yorkshire Electricity and Viridian.
More recently he held senior management roles in two major power consultancies and is currently a Director of Renewable Energy Generation, where he has developed a fleet of power plants operating on used cooking oil and is responsible for construction and operation of the companies wind turbines.
Martin Alderson - Non Executive Director
Martin has over 35 years experience in the energy sector. He is a Chartered Engineer and has managed large scale capital investment projects. More recently he has facilitated biomethane gas to grid connections. Martin is a Trustee of the Institute of Gas Engineers and Managers.
CO2Sense is a Community Interest Company which means we don't have any shareholders and all profits generated by the company are re-invested to further our aims. We have members rather than shareholders who help the board to govern the company.
